On your first visit, we will spend time taking detailed notes on your current problem and medical history and finding out about your diet, lifestyle and environment.

You will normally be asked to undress to your underwear while a detailed assessment is made of your structure and mobility. Orthopaedic and neurological examinations may also be made and if necessary, you will be referred via your GP for imaging or other tests.

We will then discuss your diagnosis and a plan of treatment, which may include exercises and lifestyle changes.

Treatment consists of acupuncture and manipulation. Osteopaths utilise a range of techniques that use the hands to realign the structural system of the body, relax muscles and improve circulation; these techniques include stretching, mobilising and “thrusting” of joints, always with your consent.

Depending on the nature of the injury, patients may require a series of treatments in order to achieve optimum recovery.
